Outputting 215 oz-in and transiting in 0.09 sec/60° the DS215CLHV standard-size digital servo is a solid choice for modelers who require a servo that's a little quicker off the mark than a 3-pole servo. Built with a coreless motor on a center case foundation that's been CNC-machined from a solid billet of 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum, this servo is a great choice for giant scale models powered by a 50cc gasser - especially a beauty like an 84" Sukhoi. Since 215 ounces of torque (or more than 13 lbs) approximates the model's weight, you have at your fingertips enough power to horse it through the wildest maneuvers when even a deft touch won't do the trick.

Of course, a competition pilot's overriding concerns revolve around how well it centers and what it weighs? With respect to centering, due to our using a genuine Japanese Nobel potentiometer (the best money can buy) along with MIL-SPEC components, you get the best centering in the industry. And since the case is made of CNC-machined aircraft aluminum plus impact resistant engineering polymer (reinforced with bronze bushings at the steel gear shafts pockets), you get lust-worthy light weight plus slop-free performance that endures season after season.

Pilots of 600-700 class helicopters will find this servo a solid selection because it's got the sheer speed you want for 3D maneuvers, the power and precision for FAI-F3C, plus the rugged reliability required for scale models. Thoughtful touches abound, like cooling fins carved into the aluminum case to help the motor shed heat better - even when buried deep within a fuselage where there's little airflow. And contributing to the über reliability is the conformal coating. We call it monkey snot because it's so sticky and messy to deal with but it's better than a little square of foam others use to mitigate shock and vibration. Applied to the PCB (printed circuit board) and technically called potting compound, this is an aerospace-grade practice you find in ProModeler servos. Added to which, this servo is lighter, which is important when counting grams!

Building out a scale mode isn't for the faint-hearted because you invest months or years and then you trust all that hard work to your servos. This is why selecting them based on price is risking bad juju. Or put another way, it's not a decision made lightly (unless it's destined to be a hangar queen). Basically, when you're about to throttle up is a bad time for second thoughts regarding your selection. With rugged and reliable construction, your DS215CLHV coreless servos will give you peace of mind.

Better components. Better servos. The formula is simple. Decisions regarding what go into ProModeler servos aren't made in accounting to optimize price and profit, but in engineering. The reasonable price comes about because of a better business model that eschews the old way of doing things (importer + distributor + hobby dealers) because they all get a cut at your expense. With us you're smartly cutting out the middlemen by dealing direct.

Note: operating voltage is 4.8-8.4V, but optimal performance is obtained with a 2S LiPo instead of a BEC. This is because LiPos deliver the required current without voltage spikes, noise, or otherwise adversely affecting the delicate avionics (25C or better is recommended). After all, synthetic orange-colored Tang may have gone to the moon, but it doesn't compare to freshly squeezed orange juice, right? The same holds true when it comes to feeding your avionics!

Note; when the trade off between money for a little more torque (plus a significant increase in speed) is attractive, eyeball our DS305CLHV because it's basically the same physical size but outputs about 50% more torque while being a whisker faster
